Danielle & Kyle | YMCA of the Rockies Wedding | Overlook Chapel, Estes Park | Colorado Wedding Photographer

It was beautiful day at the YMCA of the Rockies with Danielle and Kyle. The skies were blue, the trees were lush and this couple could not get enough of one another. Danielle and Kyle currently live in Alabama, where Kyle is attending medical school. They LOVE Colorado with a passion though, and visit every chance they get. Danielle had planned for months to make her wedding truly unique and special. She had her mother's wedding dress altered into the beautiful wedding gown you see below, and even wore her grandmother's vintage party dress for part of the reception. Her details and attention to detail were immaculate and beautiful. The colors were extremely natural, focusing on the whites, pinks/blush, browns and neutral greens to bring a cohesiveness between the wedding decor and the already breathtaking mountain wonderland. I would say it was definitely achieved! Throughout the day you could just tell how loved they were by their friends and family. Everyone was so excited for them which is just the perfect way to begin a new marriage. That excitement lasted well into the night as the dance party and hulk props made their way into the scene. Thank you Kyle and Danielle for being wonderful clients! I truly wish you the best on this grand and great new adventure they call marriage.

Amanda & Ben | Colorado Farm Wedding | Northern Colorado Wedding Photographer

Another wedding from last season that I absolutely adored. We were at a private home east of Fort Collins celebrating the union of two very awesome people. I loved Amanda and Ben from the moment I met them at our consultation, just weeks before their November wedding. They were so excited and knew how much they had to plan in such a short amount of time. Amanda's vision came to life with her neutral colors and everything was so beautiful and simple. Her dress was one of of my favorites, with a sloping back that was extremely elegant and fun. Congrats you two, and thanks again for letting me a big part of your special day!

Spring Bohemian Styled Wedding Shoot | Windsong Estate | Fort Collins Wedding Photographer

I just want to start out by saying that I absolutely LOVE colors, Spring and floral crowns. I had the honor of putting this styled shoot together with Bri from Balayage Spa and Salon. We spent endless hours getting ready for the shoot and made a pretty good team. Our original shoot was scheduled during the "Snowpocalypse," so we had to be a little flexible with the dates, but everything came together and we definitely accomplished our "Spring Boho" theme. I brought in some grandma inspiration by stealing plates, pillows, goblets and candlesticks from my grandmother, and it just shows how you can be super creative in styling your wedding with things you have lying around, at a thrift shop or even your grandparent's house ;). The pillows were actually hand stitched by my great grandmother, who passed away before I was born, so this table was definitely a special project for me. Lastly, not to mention the beautiful centerpiece by Lace & Lilies.

Thank you to all of the amazing vendors and models who helped make our vision possible. We couldn't have done it without you. And also thank you to all of the awesome photographers who participated in the day as well! We loved having you there. Vendor collaboration at it's best :).

Kat & Luc | Summit County Wedding Photographer | Idaho Springs | Breckenridge | Rocky Mountain Styled Shoot

Occasionally "us" photographers get to plan and participate in styled shoots. This particular one was the doing of an awesome photography group I'm involved with in Colorado called the Pursuit Community. I went on a weekend retreat a few weeks ago where we got to get back to our "roots" per se, and really talk about our businesses and personal lives, as well as spend some time in worship and community. It was an awesome weekend, and I walked away with so many new friendships. Photography can sometimes be a lonely profession when you're not out and about shooting weddings and what not during the weekdays, so getting to collaborate and network with other amazing creatives like myself was such a blessing. It's so funny, because we are all incredibly different, but incredibly alike as well. I definitely found a group of ladies who share similar passions, struggles and lives.

The cool thing about this couple was that they were the worship leaders for our retreat. They actually lead worship at Lifebridge Christian Church in Longmont, so this wasn't their first rodeo ;). Anyways, this photo shoot was a special treat for them because they did not have the most amazing wedding photos, and they look back to that day wishing they did. It's such a testament to the fact that wedding photography is SOOOO important. Now that life is busy and bustling with their twins, it was even more special to step aside and have some photos for themselves. I think my favorite part was hearing Luc sing "Maaaarrrrrrrrryyyyy Meeeeeee" (as all of the lady photographers said YES! with no hesitation---Yes, I heard you Mrs. Kraft, haha). It was pretty funny. Anyways, thank you ladies, and Kat & Luc for such an amazing weekend!

P.S. A little shout out to Lace and Lilies for the beautiful floral crown.

Christy + Harald | Playa Del Carmen Wedding Photographer | Azul Fives, Mexico | Destination Wedding Photographer

It was quite the trip from Denver to the Azul Fives Resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I actually took my 2 month old on this little wedding adventure with the help of an old friend who happened to be 6 months pregnant at the time. We probably looked so ridiculous trying to get through the airport with our plethora of baby and camera equipment. Once we were there, the true adventure began as we explored the resort amenities including the infinity pool. The best part though was having the honor of capturing Christy & Harald's wedding.

Christy & Harald are hilarious together, and I can absolutely see why they are a couple. Christy is super feisty, and Harald is as laid back as they come. They're both lawyers in Colorado, so you can just imagine the discussions they must have. But, believe me, they are probably the coolest lawyers I know, and anyone would be lucky to be in their social circle because they are all about the fun. The wedding day was absolutely beautiful. The sky and the water were both a vibrant blue, and the rooftop ceremony/reception site had views to die for and a nice ocean breeze. We even had a parasailer fly by during the ceremony; the tell tale sign of a destination wedding, haha. The day was truly a celebration of their union and overall a big party; my favorite kind of wedding! Thank you Christy & Harald for letting me photograph your big day. Those memories will last a lifetime (especially the ones from the after hours).

Caitlyn & Darrel | Offbeat Farm Wedding | Colorado Wedding Photographer

Caitlyn and Darrel are the probably the most laid back people I have ever met. They are literally SO CHILL, and were so fun to work with. They are both quirky and fun, and their wedding was truly what you could describe as an offbeat wedding. As they both worked on finishing their vows before the ceremony and coming up with an awesome music playlist, their friends and family worked away at making their day special and unique. Caitlyn (a Harry Potter fanatic) and Darrel (who works for border control!) actually live in Arizona, and had to plan from their wedding from a distance. However, I was amazed at how so many of the details truly came together. Darrel even had shotgun shelled boutonnieres. The wedding was on Caitlyn's parents farm in Berthoud, CO, and the love of their family and friends radiated as the night when on. They even braved the cold as Caitlyn & Darrel shared their first dance under the red and purple altar where they shared their vows. I loved meeting you two, and wish you the best on your life journey!
