destination wedding

Christy + Harald | Playa Del Carmen Wedding Photographer | Azul Fives, Mexico | Destination Wedding Photographer

It was quite the trip from Denver to the Azul Fives Resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I actually took my 2 month old on this little wedding adventure with the help of an old friend who happened to be 6 months pregnant at the time. We probably looked so ridiculous trying to get through the airport with our plethora of baby and camera equipment. Once we were there, the true adventure began as we explored the resort amenities including the infinity pool. The best part though was having the honor of capturing Christy & Harald's wedding.

Christy & Harald are hilarious together, and I can absolutely see why they are a couple. Christy is super feisty, and Harald is as laid back as they come. They're both lawyers in Colorado, so you can just imagine the discussions they must have. But, believe me, they are probably the coolest lawyers I know, and anyone would be lucky to be in their social circle because they are all about the fun. The wedding day was absolutely beautiful. The sky and the water were both a vibrant blue, and the rooftop ceremony/reception site had views to die for and a nice ocean breeze. We even had a parasailer fly by during the ceremony; the tell tale sign of a destination wedding, haha. The day was truly a celebration of their union and overall a big party; my favorite kind of wedding! Thank you Christy & Harald for letting me photograph your big day. Those memories will last a lifetime (especially the ones from the after hours).

It was a beautiful Colorado Saturday at the end of August when Nikki and Ryder said their "I dos." As to be expected, it looked like there might be some rain because Colorado has the most unpredictable weather patterns, but low and behold, I don't believe we received one single drop. The big man upstairs was looking out for this couple, knowing what a special day it was and how important good weather was for an outdoor ceremony AND reception. This garden themed wedding was at family friends estate up near Horsetooth Reservoir. The property is beautiful and unique, filled with trees, flowers, pergolas and and anything "garden" you can think of. What a special Oasis for a wedding! Nikki executed the details perfectly, and made sure everything was just a colorful as the garden with her pinks, reds and oranges. Just looking through the photos, I can see how much Nikki & Ryder love each other, and how excited they are to start their life together. Ryder even made sure to get the approval of Nikki's son, Christian, before asking for her hand in marriage, so the story is bigger than just the two of them. Congratulations on your new little family, and thank you for letting BlueHaus be a part of your special day!
